Cristina Simeoni creates artworks where material, surface, and light engage in a powerful dialogue. Her practice is guided by the pursuit of essential presence, where texture becomes language and matter carries the resonance of time and transformation.

Born and trained in Italy, Cristina has developed a visual language that transforms surfaces into fields of light and tactile intensity. Her work invites a refined and lasting engagement with space, establishing a relationship that evolves with perception and atmosphere.
Artist Statement​

The artist is the hand that plays, touching one key or another purposively, to cause vibrations in the soul.”

My work arises from the pursuit of essence—of gesture, surface, and light. I seek to distill each painting to what is essential: powerful, material, contemplative, precise and instinctive.

Light is my medium as much as paint. I sculpt it, letting texture and surface guide its movement. White, metals, mineral powders, sand, and natural elements—including deliberate oxidations—become instruments through which light manifests physically. These processes allow time and transformation to leave their mark, creating surfaces that are unique, alive, and impossible to replicate. The canvas comes alive: vibrant, ever-changing, and responsive to the space it inhabits.

Each work is a dialogue between matter and light, between the intention of the artist and the perception of the viewer. It is not a fixed image, but an encounter. Through this encounter, the painting invites pause, reflection, and an intimate engagement with both the work and oneself.

I celebrate the beauty of uniqueness over conformity: every mark, every nuance of oxidation, every shift of texture becomes a signature of time and presence.
Each piece is meant to endure—physically, visually, and emotionally—where material, light, and time converge to create an experience of lasting resonance.
