MEET THE ARTIST

Art is soul transformed into matter.

Cristina Simeoni

Italian Contemporary Artist

Cristina Simeoni is an Italian contemporary artist whose practice explores material, transformation and light through tactile abstraction.

Working from her studio in Italy, she creates highly textured works in which mineral matter, metal leaf, natural fibres, pigments and oxidation processes become active elements of the composition.

Her surfaces are conceived not simply as images but as physical environments that change with light, distance and perception.

Her practice is grounded in a longstanding interest in the relationship between matter and time: the tension between what can be controlled and what must be allowed to evolve. This interplay makes each work inherently singular shaped by its own material response, its own process and its own passage through time, much like us.

Artist Statement

“ The work is not an object. It is a process.”
   — Antoni Tàpies

Artist Cristina Simeoni

My work investigates oxidation, mineral surfaces and transformation as temporal structures within contemporary material abstraction.

I work with metal leaf, oxidation processes, mineral powders and natural fibres to explore surface as a living field shaped by time, tension and transformation.

Metal and natural materials become active participants in the work, with oxidation, patina and surface evolution contributing directly to its formation.

Surfaces are never static; they are temporal landscapes, reflecting the passage of time and the continuous shaping of life itself.

Light is not just a medium, it is a collaborator. It moves across textures, revealing subtle variations and transforming each piece into an immersive and evolving experience.

I work in the tension between control and unpredictability, allowing material processes to unfold through their own rhythms and shifts.

My practice belongs to a European lineage of material abstraction in which surface is not an image, but an event.

Each work becomes a living trace of time in motion, inviting the viewer into an encounter where rhythm, change and perception converge, reminding us that transformation shapes both materials and ourselves.

Core Values

  • Art as a Mirror of the Soul: Each painting is a dialogue between light and matter, where presence and texture convey depth.

  • Sustainability and Fine Art Excellence: Every work is crafted with refined techniques and precious materials, designed to endure while respecting the environment.

  • A Silent Contribution: A portion of proceeds supports medical research each year—beauty that gives hope.

Professional Practice

Simeoni Art Studio | Independent Contemporary Professional Practice

2008 – Present

Simeoni Art Studio represents the independent artistic practice of Cristina Simeoni and the evolution of a professional journey rooted in painting, drawing and a longstanding exploration of visual language.

Before the studio was established, Cristina's work developed through distinct phases of figurative painting and abstraction, supported by years of artistic practice, exhibitions and direct engagement with traditional painting techniques. This foundation gradually led her toward an increasingly physical investigation of surface, texture and material, ultimately shaping the contemporary material abstraction that defines her work today.

Established in 2008, Simeoni Art Studio began as a permanent private gallery and professional studio: a dedicated space where original works could be presented directly to collectors and where a long-term, personal relationship between artist, artwork and collector could develop.

The studio was built around the creation and presentation of Cristina Simeoni's original, one-of-a-kind works, offering collectors the opportunity to encounter and acquire them directly from the artist. Alongside this independent body of work, selected commissions and site-responsive projects were occasionally developed for private and architectural spaces.

As Cristina's artistic research evolved, the studio became increasingly focused on material experimentation. Mineral surfaces, metal leaf, oxidation processes, patina, natural fibres, fire transformation and sculptural relief gradually became integral to a practice in which painting extends beyond the image and into the physical presence of the surface itself.

Over time, Simeoni Art Studio expanded beyond its original gallery space into an international digital environment and virtual showroom, making the work accessible to collectors beyond Italy while preserving the direct and personal relationship that has always been central to the practice.

Today, the studio works directly with collectors and selected professional collaborators, including art advisors, architects and interior designers, while continuing to place the original artwork at the centre of every relationship.

Each work is developed through an independent artistic process and is conceived as a unique material presence. For commissioned projects, the studio follows a collaborative and carefully defined approach that considers the spatial and conceptual context while preserving the autonomy and integrity of Cristina's artistic practice.

Simeoni Art Studio's international vision is based on the possibility of creating a direct connection between artist, artwork and collector, wherever they may be.

Today, approximately 500 original works by Cristina Simeoni are held in private and public collections internationally, across Italy, United States, United Kingdom, Europe, Australia, Canada, Japan, Malta, Singapore and the United Arab Emirates.

The studio continues to evolve through research, experimentation and long-term relationships with those who choose to live with the work.

Collectors & Commissions

Cristina works directly with private collectors and collaborates with art advisors, architects and interior designers on selected projects.

Each commissioned work is developed through a defined process that considers the artistic direction of the work alongside its intended architectural context.

The aim is not to reproduce an existing painting but to create a work that remains authentically part of the artist's practice while responding to the specific requirements of the collector and space.

Collectors receive each original work with its Certificate of Authenticity, artwork documentation and care information, together with professional packaging and international shipping arrangements.

For selected commissions, the studio provides direct communication throughout the creative and production process, from initial concept through final approval and delivery.

Collector Relationship

Collectors are invited to become part of the studio's private network, receiving access to selected previews, new collections, studio developments and private releases through the Simeoni Art Studio Collectors Circle.
