Cristina Simeoni creates artworks where material, surface, and light engage in a powerful dialogue. Her practice is guided by the pursuit of essential presence, where texture becomes language and matter carries the resonance of time and transformation.
Born and trained in Italy, Cristina has developed a visual language that transforms surfaces into fields of light and tactile intensity. Her work invites a refined and lasting engagement with space, establishing a relationship that evolves with perception and atmosphere.

My work investigates oxidation, mineral surfaces and transformation as temporal structures within contemporary material abstraction.
I work with metal leaf, oxidation processes, mineral powders and natural fibres to explore surface as a living field shaped by time, tension and transformation.
Metals and natural materials become active fields, where oxidation, patina, and surface evolution participate directly in the formation of each work.
Surfaces are never static; they are temporal landscapes reflecting the passage of time and the continuous shaping of life itself.
Light is not just a medium, it is a collaborator. It moves across textures, revealing subtle variations and transforming each piece into an immersive and evolving experience.
I work in the tension between control and unpredictability, allowing material processes to unfold through their own rhythms and shifts.
My practice belongs to a European lineage of material abstraction in which surface is not an image, but an event.
Each work becomes a living trace of time in motion, inviting the viewer into an encounter where rhythm, change and perception converge, reminding us that transformation shapes both materials and ourselves.
